A Bit About Nampa, Idaho

Nampa, Idaho is located about 20 miles west of the state capitol of Boise, directly off Interstate 84. It is the 3rd largest city in the state and the largest city in Canyon County. Nampa had its humble beginnings as a railroad town in the late 19th century when the Oregon Short Line Railroad, now part of the Union Pacific Railroad, ran track from Granger, Wyoming to Huntington, Oregon through Nampa. A large, historic train depot, now a museum, is located in downtown Nampa, and all downtown roads run parallel or perpendicular to that station.

Like all of Idaho, Nampa is growing by leaps and bounds, gaining almost 20,000 new residents in the past ten years and almost doubling its population since 2000. Nampa is home to the first Amazon fulfillment center in the state, housed in a new, gigantic 650,000 square foot building. Nampa is also the home to the College of Western Idaho and the Warhawk Air Museum, which is located at Nampa’s Municipal Airport. There’s also the Ford Idaho Center, with over 12,000 seats. The Snake River Stampede Rodeo and the Monster Jam events are held annually at the center. Several successful world-class businesses also call Nampa home including Heartland RV, Great American Snacks, and Fleetwood Homes.
